Arty

Hi out there is Blogland,

I know I haven't been here in awhile, but it's not really one of my priorities (and I'm not always in Internet range) for whatever reason the wifi only works in the front half of the house! Stupid technology!

Anyways,

If you know me, you know I'm arty. I love drawing and being creative. I tend to be very critical of myself and don't enjoy being praised. I don't like people talking about my art to me.

I also get a bit more offended than I should when people criticise my work. I tend to paint or draw things that are very personal to me, or have a very personal affiliation. But I'm working on it, I know I'll come into criticism as long as I'm an artist.

If you follow me on Instagram you've probably seen most of these pics, but if not, enjoy.
And feel free to comment.

Instagram photo barrage

You may have spotted some of these photos in earlier posts, but there are also many new ones. So take a look

Quinns rocks fireman's helmet

Our beautiful Dotti dog

First crop of apples (sadly inedible)

My beautiful leather ipad cover, with an empty frame for extra photography finesse

Finished fireman's helmet in its natural gallery setting

Headless felt doll, with button joints

Lovely chalkboard at blue lotus restaurant

Mmm cake

Recycled plastic bag jellyfish

Filet crochet Eiffel Tower (in progress)

Crochet house pillow, with my first attempt at tunisian

Our four beautiful chooks

Another one of my felt doll, now with a crochet skirt

Our petit Thea, so shy when we brought her home

My cat thumper who stole my bed

A tense moment of animal kingdom standoff. (Everything ended fine, so don't worry)

Hama bead fun, though I'm not quite sure what to do with them now!

More tunisian crochet. Although a bit curled! Thinking I might frame it?

Putting together a stack of origami-ish boxes. Very surprised at how awesome this particular photo turned out! For a two second snap!!!

March so far!

New hy-line chickens! So gorgeous! But they are used to much smaller cages and don't quite know what to do with all this new space! We let them roam about the backyard for a bit but they tried to nest behind the air conditioner compressor!

Little crochet house in progress. I suppose it won't be that little when I finish it. But man I hate sewing in threads!

Here it is mostly finished. I'm debating whether or not to put a chimney on it? What do you think?

Here is my most current project. An Eiffel Tower for my awesome sister. She does so much for me, but now she has to decide what she wants it to be! Could be a blanket (it's sure big enough!) or a curtain, or just about anything else!

I attempted a clafoutis but I don't think it really worked. Maybe the raspberries had too much liquid, or maybe too many of them? I've never actually eaten a proper one so I don't really have anything to compare it too!

And finally my recycled jellyfish, I'm still unsure what to do with them but they are pretty cool anyway! I thought I might make some normal crochet fish and maybe through a rainbow fish in there, I used to love that book!

Any ideas? Maybe a mobile?

Catch up

Christmas was so busy, and the usual downtime afterwards completely failed. It's been over a month since I posted but not much has happened.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a day of major photography, I need to update my Etsy shop

Here are some baby apples from our garden, we can't eat them because it's the first crop but they were just way too cute!

One of my Christmas presents was this adorable cake stand and dome, the photo doesn't show the little bird on top very well but I think my family did a wonderful job with their gifts this year. Handmade things are always best and there were certainly plenty of those going around!

Our beautiful pussy cat resting on the backpack. This was on a MEGA hot day and we had just walked home from the shops with a couple of milk jugs and the bag was still cold from them.

Here is my most exciting photo at the moment, (aside from my awesome photo-bombing thumb!) I get to paint this fireman's helmet for Quinn's rocks fire brigade. It's a volunteer artist project to raise money for the brigade.

I have my preliminary sketches all drawn out, now it's just a matter of sanding and priming the plastic so the paint actually sticks!

How have your holidays been?

If anyone out there reads this please 'like' my Facebook page and leave a comment for me! Would love to hear from you!

Art project

New experiences are so important, I've recently discovered free motion embroidery and hand beading. I'm working on a table runner incorporating both these techniques and mola cutting. It looks pretty messy at the moment but it'll look great when its done!
